Biography
Ik Jin Kim was born on 1959 in the province of Gapyung, South Korea. In 1985, he received his Bachelor of Science from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering at Myung Ji University, South Korea. In 1987 he obtained his Master of Science from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering at Han Yang University, Seoul South Korea. In 1992 he earned his Dr.-Ing in Structural Ceramics from the Department of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering at Technical University of Aachen, RWTH, Germany. His research field was Thermal Shock Resistant and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Titanate-mullite and Powder Preparation by Sol-gel Process. From 1992-1993, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Danguk University. He was also a Research Group Leader in the Institute of Carbon Chemistry at Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, South Korea where he acquired his experience in carbon structure and the engineering of carbon chemical process. Since March 1994, he is a Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Hanseo University, Director of the Institute for Processing and Application of Inorganic Materials Science and Engineering (PAIM) and concurrently as Director of Chungnam Advanced-Fabrication Technology Innovation Center (CATIC) and at the Institute of Advanced Ceramics for Semiconductor (IACS) at BIEMT Ltd. His research interests are in advanced ceramics for high temperature application and renewable energy materials which include the synthesis of carbon nanotubes, host-guest materials, as well as the analysis and simulation of molecular level composites. He is the author and co-author of over one hundred fifty (250) journal publications and presented numerous international conference papers. He was a reviewer of four (4) Scientific Journals and has regularly refereed papers for various conferences. From 2007-2008, he was a guest Professor in a research group of Professor Ludwig Gauckler at ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. He is also a poet.
